Here is a partial list of some ways for you to get involved with the UW CSE Outreach and Rentention projects. If any of these seem interesting, please send email to ugrad-advisor@cs

Undergraduate Students and Graduate students

To be notified of volunteer opportunities, sign up for the CSE Ambassadors Mailing list.

One or two hours total

  • Participate in Open House (end of April)
  • Return to your High School during breaks to visit with students
  • Serve on a panel for one of our information sessions or pre-major seminars

A few hours over one or two days

  • Particpate in Gear-Up summer workshop for middle school and high school students
  • Volunteer to run small workshops for visiting students
  • Mentor a new CSE student

Longer term committments

  • Join the CSE Ambassadors email list: this is the first place we go to recruit volunteers
  • Join ACM-W

Faculty

One or two hours total

  • Run a demo for the Direct Admission Recruiting Day usually early spring quarter
  • Speak at one of our pre-major information sessions

A few hours over one or two days

  • Coordinate and/or run a demo for the College of Engineering Open House
  • Lead a CS4HS workshop for high school teachers (July)
  • Run a BRIDGE session for the College of Engineering (August) 3 hours/day over two days
  • Run a Washington Scholars summer workshop (July)

Longer term committments

  • Volunteer for the Diversity Committee
  • Host a student through REU program for the summer
  • Include a BPC proposal in your research grant
