Simon Peter is an associate professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering at UW, since January 2022. His research interests are in Operating Systems and Networks, with a focus on low latency, scalable, and energy-efficient data center system design. He is the recipient of a Sloan Research Fellowship, NSF CAREER Award, SIGOPS Hall of Fame Award and multiple best paper awards.
Simon graduated with a Ph.D. (Dr. sc. ETH) in Computer Science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, in October 2012. Prior to that he graduated (Dipl.-Inf.) from the Carl-von-Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Germany in 2006 with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Music. Prior to his position in the Allen School, Simon was an assistant professor at UT Austin, since 2016.
