Current Quarter Information

Winter quarter announcements

  • Winter quarter begins on Monday, January 6.
  • Winter registration in PMP courses and colloquia is ongoing. New and continuing students may enroll at any time. Enroll before January 6 (first day of classes) so as to avoid late registration fees.
  • The table of key dates and deadlines, below, has been updated for winter and now includes information about when students can expect quarterly U-PASS service to begin.
  • PMP students who still need to obtain student IDs (Husky Cards) should obtain their cards as soon as possible. Visit the Husky Card Office website to learn about opportunities for obtaining your Husky Card in-person or via mail.

Winter quarter building hours

The CSE buildings are unlocked during the hours described below. Outside of these hours, Husky Card is required for access!

Allen (CSE) Monday-Friday, 8am-7pm
Reception hours are 9am-noon and 1-5pm
Gates (CSE2) Monday-Friday, 8am-7pm
Reception hours are 9am-noon and 1-5pm

Winter Quarter Key Dates

Dates posted here also appear on the PMP Dates and Events Calendar, above. A complete listing of key dates and deadlines for the upcoming academic year appears on the 2024-25 UW Academic Calendar.

Quarter day Quarter date Deadline or quarterly milestone
Two weeks before the quarter Monday, Dec 23 On-leave request available for upcoming quarter
Eight days before the start of the quarter Sunday, Dec 29 Quarterly student U-PASS activates for upcoming quarter, if you were registered at least 48 hours prior.
If you were not already registered, then your U-PASS activates two days after you do so.
First day Monday, Jan 6 Classes begin
Late registration fee for first-time registration
Master’s degree request opens
Seventh calendar day Sunday, Jan 12 Last day to make schedule changes without being assessed a change fee and possible fee forfeiture charges (charges begin on eighth calendar day)
Eighth calendar day Monday, Jan 13 Schedule change fees and forfeiture charges are in effect; all schedule changes carry a fee.
Third Friday Friday, Jan 24 Payment deadline for all quarterly fees and charges
Last day of the quarter (Friday of finals week) Friday, Mar 21 5:00pm Seattle time: Deadline for on-leave students to pay on-leave fee and finalize on-leave status for the quarter
11:59pm Seattle time: Deadline for graduating students to file their master’s degree request
11:59pm Seattle time: Deadline to change to or from S/NS grading
Sunday of finals week / the last week of the quarter Sunday, Mar 23 11:59pm Seattle time: Colloquium viewings and reports due in PMP colloquium reporting tool
Varies Friday, Mar 21 Register for upcoming quarter by this day to avoid gap in student U-PASS coverage.
If you have not registered for next quarter by this day, then your U-PASS will reactivate two days after you do so.
