The Paul G. Allen School cordially invites alumni and friends to an open house celebrating the opening of the Bill & Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering at the heart of the University of Washington’s Seattle campus! Explore our expanded home that will enable us to double our annual degree production and extend our leadership at the forefront of computing innovation. Highlights include the Charles & Lisa Simonyi Undergraduate Commons; the 240-seat Amazon Auditorium; a variety of classroom and collaboration spaces; the Google AI Laboratory; new labs devoted to robotics, fabrication, molecular information systems; and unique features that foster a welcoming and supportive environment for our diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
Don’t miss the Anita Borg Staircase honoring a champion of diversity in computing. Head up to Steve & Heather Singh Event Gallery on the 4th floor for an art installation by sculptor and UW alumnus George Rodriguez. From there, enter the spectacular Zillow Commons event center, and step outside to enjoy a breathtaking view of the UW campus and Lake Washington from the Wilma Bradley Terrace. For one day only, we are opening up access to the entire building to the community.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Center was funded through the amazing generosity of hundreds of Allen School friends and alumni, tech companies, the Washington State Legislature, and the University. Together, the Bill & Melinda Gates Center and the school’s first permanent home, the Paul G. Allen Center, will offer an unparalleled education and research experience to more of Washington’s students and support robust collaborations across the campus, in the region, and around the globe.
We hope you will join us on March 1st to celebrate this important milestone!
